Ben Berens is primarily a visual artist and photographer who began honing his playful style and character depictions in Athens, Ohio while he was a student at Ohio University. Ben’s work merges multiple mediums and is a portrayal of the art forms he loves most - namely painting and 35mm photography.

Ben grew up moving around the United States and subsequently spent the early years of his 20’s exploring and living throughout Latin America. The influence of his travels, exposure to various environments, cultures, and the people he meets along the way are strongly evident in his photos and other works.

Ben works as an educator in a local high school where he teaches English to newly arrived students from countries around the world. He strives to merge his love of art and storytelling with his work as a teacher by creating engaging images, stories, and other works that he can share with his community.

His work is shaped by themes of inclusivity, overcoming hardships, visualization, and mindfulness. 

Ben currently resides in Columbus, Ohio.
